The SIXTH season of the Indian Premier League 2013 (IPL 6) will be named Pepsi IPL after PepsiCo Company caught the title sponsorship. Worldwide beverage huge PepsiCo has caught the IPL title sponsorship privileges for the next five years, 2013 to17 for Rs 396.8 crore ($71.77 million approx). Pepsi Paying double of the amount which paid by previous sponsor DLF and DLF paid Rs 200 crore ($57.27 million approximately) for the five year period from 2008-12. Furthermore this is the company’s biggest deal in the ground of cricket.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has sold the title sponsorship to PepsiCo. A telecommunications company Airtel was the only challenger for the rights, who bid Rs 316 crore ($57.27 million approximately).
PepsiCo becoming the title sponsor this declaration was made by the Chairman of the BCCI’s Marketing Committee, Mr. Farooq Abdullah. Beginning 2013 season PepsiCo is the title sponsor, as DLF did not renew their agreement following their early 5 year agreement, finished with the previous season. PepsiCo’s agreement is 396.8 crore for 5 years, five year period and will end in 2017.
